It has been a busy week behind the scenes at the SofaToSailboat project.
John-Kenneth D Habbershaw (Skipper) is being officially joined by Courtney W Hollyoake (First Mate) after being press-ganged into joining the project, and then getting the all clear from his employers. John-Kenneth spent two days in Gosport and Southampton meeting marketing managers and directors from various UK maritime manufacturers, and the great team at BoatBreakers.com who donated a box full of used chandlery goodies for the boat including a Lewmar Delta Anchor, and a Pair of Lewmar winches that need a little bit of love and grease to return them to full working order. A visit to Crewsaver resulted in the offer of a free liferaft service and repack closer to our departure date to give the crew the most beneficial use of it. A meeting with McMurdo will hopefully mean that the two-man team are provided with an EPIRB, PLB's and Personal AIS equipment.
John-Kenneth visited St Helena Hospice (Colchester) to meet their fund-raising team and talk about the SofaToSailboat project. He had a tour of the hospice and got to meet some of the staff by joining them for a cup of tea in the canteen, and to see some of the equipment and facilities which the SofaToSailboat project will be aiding with their fund-raising.
Courtney has also been busy; he has started coming up with some fund-raising ideas, and has been helping with some changes to the website, and designing the business cards for the SofaToSailboat website.
Please consider helping our fund-raising effort by visiting our DONATIONS page.
