£2000 Milestone Update

Updated: May 31, 2022

It's been a while since our last update, but we have been working very hard in the background, JK (the Skipper) became a father, and Courtney* (First Mate) moved home to a different part of the country and changed job roles.

As you may have read in one of our previous posts and blog entries, we had to make the hard decision to postpone our ocean due to limitations on travel/supply caused by the pandemic and due to unexpected personal challenges. As a result, we took the summer of 2021 to rest and collect our thoughts, but we remained determined to cross the Atlantic in our tiny boat.

In September, our Skipper 'JK' took a trip down to the Southhampton Boat Show to meet with some of our sponsors and update them personally on the progress of our expedition. We are pleased to say that 100% of them have continued to support us, some have offered extra help.

'Poppet', our tiny Leisure 17 AKA the 'dinghy with a lid', is about to move indoors to a new winter home in a shipwright workshop for her final structural work and a new paint scheme inside and out! She'll then be ready for her antifouling and final fix of chandlery and equipment.

To date, we have raised £2,051 of our £100,000. We are proud of our efforts so far; most of these donations have come from friends, family, and online supporters. We have had just one outing with Poppet to a boat jumble in Essex, but we have many exciting events in 2022.

We want to thank you again for your ongoing support, our supporters, and our sponsors. If you are interested in becoming a partner, please email us at contact@sofatosailboat.co.uk
